arcola theatre

arcola theatre opened in dalston at the beginning of 2001 and has since established itself as one of london's most thriving and exciting venues.  twice winner of the peter brooke open space award, the theatre now has three performance studios and is continually broadening its scope and horizon, currently aiming to become the world's first carbon-neutral theatre.  

arcola organised the first rehearsed reading of love hurts, and subsequently developed it in a series of workshops.  elder latimer is in love opens there in september 2009.

london's new writing centre and new, purpose built theatre bang in the centre of soho.  the soho theatre runs the bi-annual verity bargate award, which all three plays in the love trilogy got to the very final stages: the power of love was shortlisted in 1998; love hurts made it onto the longlist in 2000, and in 2004 time after time reached the final ten.

southwark playhouse landor theatre

the landor, with its artistic director robert mcwhir, is building a reputation for doing quality musical theatre on on a shoestring. based in north clapham in south london, the tiny venue takes on big shows and makes them its own, and in september 2008 it becomes the first theatre to stage a full production of the sebastian michael jonathan kaldor musical alvaro's balcony.

the southwark playhouse was a trailblazer in the astounding revival of the historic london borough.  now surrounded by shakespeare's globe, the millennium bridge and the new tate, the southwark, under mehmet ergen's erstwhile artistic directorship, established itself firmly as one of london's top fringe venues.  the power of love was premiered at the southwark.
